Located in the Hills of Headwaters, just east of the town of Orangeville, Ontario, Shady Ridge Farm is our little piece of equine heaven (and a dream come true).

About 3 or so years ago, we decided to enroll our daughter in a summer horse day camp and we have been around horses ever since. For a little while, we part-boarded a horse but it wasn't long before we wanted some of our own.

Then a cute little property came on the market that we envisioned as our little horse farm and the journey began.

One of the first things we did was to have a barn built. Thank you to Denco Sheds for the great little home for our horses. We also built a paddock where they now spend their days enjoying the sunshine (most days) and green grass.

Then came the horses. We first got Charlie and had him boarded out and then, when we were ready for horses at home, we got Ellie and they both started calling Shady Ridge their home on the same day.

Shady Ridge is owned by the Byer family... Randy, Janice & Megan... a horse crazy family who are so excited to have this wonderful opportunity to have horses in their own backyard.

Both Randy & Janice have been small business owners for 10+ years. Randy owns and operates RJB Towing and Janice runs Equine Web Design, Docu-Type Administrative & Web Design Services, and is involved in several other businesses from her home office (read more on her other websites listed above).

Megan is the inspiration behind Shady Ridge. For many years she has been taking English riding lessons and has a wall covered in ribbons from the shows she has competed in. Her passion for horses and becoming a hunter/jumper competitor has rubbed off on her parents and now the whole family loves horses.
